January 2014 Favorites

I’m a little late getting this up, but I was loving some products last month and I’d love to share. Some products are new favorites and some are well loved. I even have one non-beauty favorite. So let’s dive in.

First favorite is from Essence, the I (heart) Extreme Volume mascara. I got this bad boy at Ulta and it retails for $4.99. It’s pretty unassuming as far as mascaras go. The brush is rubber and the bristles are kinda spikey. It’s also huge. I was pretty sure that I was going to hate this when I opened it, but I can admit that I was entirely wrong. I love the incredible volume this mascara give me with only two coats. The only bad thing is that if you aren’t careful you can end up with clumps. I did notice it flaked occasionally after a long day. Overall though, for under $5 I can’t beat how nice this makes my lashes look.

Next thing is a Maybelline Color Tattoo in Barely Branded. I seriously love these cream shadows, as does most of the beauty community. I found this gem in the metals collection. It’s a cream/ivory/neutral with shimmer. I love to use this as a base for looks when I don’t mind a little shimmer. I can also wear it on it’s own with a darker shadow in the crease for an quick and easy eye look.

Next thing is also from Maybelline. It’s one of the new Master Glaze cream blush sticks. The color is Plums Up. I’m going to be real honest, this is sort of the only color I’ve been interested in from the line. Maybe once summer is here I’ll be interested in the brighter/lighter colors. I love how easily these blushes blend in and the color payoff is frankly amazing. It’s very lightweight  too, so putting it on top of my liquid foundation doesn’t feel heavy at all. I tend to feel kind of cakey when I layer a lot of creamy products on top of each other. This does not have that problem at all. Yep, this is beloved by me.

Up next is Garnier Fructis Triple Nutrition Nutrient Spray. This stuff is awesome. My hair is always dry and brittle because I wash it every day, some times twice a day because despite feeling like my hair is brittle it gets really oily. So it’s dry and oily? Yea, that may not make sense, but it’s the facts about my weird hair. This is formulated for dry, damaged hair and it’s designed to nourish hair and keep it shiny. I think that this really does make my hair soft and shiny without it being overly oily. I just shake it, spray it a couple times and blow dry. I don’t know much about hair. I can just barely operate my blow dryer, but this stuff makes my hair look pretty. I love it.

Last thing is non-beauty related. I have a Scentsy burner, but I’m incredibly cheap so I can’t afford the Scentsy scent bars. Hubby bought me several of these Better Homes scents bars for Christmas from Walmart. This scent is Orange Buttercream Cupcake. It’s citrus and bakery and just yummy goodness. I throw it in my burner on my makeup desk and just love how delicious it smells.

Alright, so that’s what I was loving last month. What where you in love with last month? Let me know in the comments below. Thanks for stopping by and have a great day!
